Our Approach

Many firms don’t claim any state or federal tax credits because of the significant time and paperwork involved in obtaining them. Additionally, employers are prohibited by law from asking their employees some of the questions needed to determine if they qualify. Further complicating this situation is the fact that many CPAs lack the expertise to properly maximize their clients’ tax credits or even know how to obtain the vouchers. As evidence of this, only 10% of all the companies eligible for tax credits in California even claim them on their tax returns.

Romo Incentives Group assists hundreds of firms in maximizing their federal and state tax credits by unloading this complex and often-time burdensome process from them. As an outside consultant, we can also ask your employees all of the questions necessary to determine if they are qualified and thereby maximize the firm’s Hiring tax credits.

Analyze employee qualifications

With over 25 different qualifying criteria for state and federal hiring credits, our company will screen your employees to see if they meet one or more of these criteria in order to qualify. We do this by using various databases and, if necessary, personally interviewing the employees. Each interview takes only 2 to 5 minutes and has minimal impact on operations.

Analyze capital expenditures

We will analyze all capitalized equipment to see if any meet the qualifying criteria for the Sales and Use Tax Credit.

Analyze Expenses

There are 17 categories that describe business activities that can qualify a company for R&D tax credits. Romo Incentives Group will conduct an analysis to see if your firm meets one of these categories and, if so, do a further analysis to determine if any of your expenses will qualify for the R&D tax credits.

Obtain Necessary Documentation

Both state and federal hiring tax credits require employers to provide specific types of documentation that proves their employees qualify before a tax credit voucher is issued. Obtaining this documentation can be a very arduous and time consuming task. Romo Incentives Group has direct contact with various state and federal government agencies and other third party service providers in order to obtain this required documentation. This relieves a tremendous time burden from our clients.

Obtain Vouchers

Once we have proof that employees qualify, voucher applications are then completed for each qualified employee, along with the supporting documentation, and sent to the respective government vouchering officials. Our firm’s expertise in this area saves our clients a tremendous amount of time since the vouchering officials will often reject the voucher if the application isn’t completed correctly or if there’s the slightest variation between application and supporting documentation.

Minimal impact on company’s time and resources

Romo Incentives Group does most of the work for our clients so there is minimal impact on our client’s time and resources. Typically, all we need is a list of equipment purchased and employees hired after an Enterprise Zone’s designation date and we’ll get started from there.

Guarantee work

Romo Incentives Group guarantees all of its tax credits and will reimburse any fees associated with any tax credit disallowed by the state (which has never occurred).
